The look and feel of a website is created through visual and functional designs. The Visual design stage creates samples of how pages on a site could look when implemented. Functional design is the process of creating the structure of the site, how visitors get from place to place, find what they are looking for, and what happens when they get there. Visual design

Designer jeweller Vivian Pare came to us with a design concept in mind, we worked with her to realise that concept and deliver www.vivianpare.com. Andrew Webber of the award winning Orchard Day Nursery wanted a website that matched as closely as possible to his printed brochure, this is the result.

The Open Studios scheme have been successfully producing their printed Directory of Artists for 20 years. When they decided to have a website we were required to recreate that Directory as closely as possible, their website has proven to be very effective. WebCAL is proud to be a sponsor and supporter of the Newbury Fringe Festival and each year creates its website to promote their events.

Functional design

The design brief for the White Lion Hotel required that the site focus on persuading visitors to make enquiries about booking accommodation as well as presenting the three service streams on offer. The site also had to be optimised for search engine positioning. The acting headteacher of St. William of York Primary School had a fixed budget and a need for a website to present the school.  To keep costs to a minimum we worked with her and her staff via e-mail and telephone to create SWOY without ever meeting anyone face to face.
